[if I purchased this as a gift. Specifically the intended recipient wanted some sort of wall mounted music player. I've had the chance to see it in use since. The sound quality isn't going to blow you away. If you're a tech oriented person or music aficiando perhaps this isn't the system for you. If you just want to play some music and go about life this will work great. It is fairly sizeable, and not the lightest weight item around. The quality of the materials are generic. They don't make a statement either way and are best described as middle of the road. It does come with a completely flat, very small remote (2" by 4")which works fine. Personally I might have gone for a better sound quality and more modern appearance, but as a gift it went over very well.

The Packing Job was FANTASTIC though. Bubble wrap, foam, bagged, and boxed. There was no way it was going to arrive damaged. Very appreciative of that fact.]

I had a Boze CD player for about 6 years, and it got to the point where it wouldn’t play some of my old CDs or ones that I made on my computer, so I decided to replace it. I thought this Philips MC235B would be just OK, but I really like it, and the sound is great. I also like the sleek, modern look of it.

Unlike some folks here, I have had my unit for over a year and I have zero problems with it. It plays everything I throw at it! The sound is great for such a small system – a nice bonus! I have always kept the unit together as I don’t have that much room in my office, but it really sounds nice and can pump up the volume pretty high for its size. I really like this one, and if I ever need another shelf system, I hope this one is still available!

The stereo isn’t bad for it’s money. It puts out reasonably good sound for <0. It has it's quirks though.

The really nice touch is the EJECT button on the remote. I have never seen this on any device I’ve ever owned, but if you think about it: On most other stereos you have a CD in one hand and the remote in the other, you have to put one of them down to open the case. Simple, effective thinking.

The big design flaw to me is the PAUSE function. After 5 or so minutes, PAUSE changes to STOP, thus losing your spot on the CD. Most reasons I hit pause take longer than 5 minutes.

The laser has popped out of alignment twice in the years I have owned it. After the second time, I realized i just needed to manually slide the laser carriage all the way back to the parked position. It doesn’t happen very often, but it was really annoying the first time.

Not a bad product, but I wouldn’t buy it again.
